August 25, 2009 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Aberdeen IronBirds News Release

The ‘Bird bats exploded in game one vs. Lowell scoring seven runs in the first inning and coasting to an 11-0 win. Aberdeen lost two of three back on 7/14-7/16 at Lowell.

VERSUS BROOKLYN:

The ‘Birds were swept for a second consecutive series at home, but the big story of the two game set with Brooklyn was RHP Brandon Moore's seven inning no-hitter in game one. Brooklyn won 5-0 and 5-1.

ALLEDN PICKS UP SECOND START:

RHP Collin Allen pitched beautifully, in 6.o IP, he allowed five hits, no runs, one walk, and he struck out five Spinners. Allen is now 2-5 with a 5.34 ERA.

‘BIRDS ELIMINATED IN DIVISION:

With only three games left in the home stand, the best the ‘Birds can go is 3-5. With their five game losing streak, and sweep at the hands of division leading Brooklyn, Aberdeen has officially been eliminated from the McNamara Division.

THE GOLD STANDARD GOES TO DELMARVA:

Levi Carolus was leading the team in six offensive categories: average, hits, RBI, doubles, slugging and stolen bases. Carolus was rewarded for his strong play by being promoted to Delmarva after the NYPL All-Star game on Aug. 19th. Carolus has played in two games for Delmarva, going 1-7, with a double, and 2 K's.

‘BIRDS AMPING UP THE POWER

Garabez Rosa hit his team leading sixth homerun of the season on August 24th vs. Lowell. On August 21st Tyler Townsend, after going hitless for two games, drove a home run over the right field wall for his second of the season.
