The IronBirds fell to the Staten Island Yankees on Wednesday night 5-3. Three runs in the top of the sixth inning cemented the win for Staten Island.
Hit Squad
The IronBirds and Yankees combined for 20 total hits. Eleven hits were credited to the Yankees, while the IronBirds recorded nine.
Jammin' Jackson and Co.
Three RBI's came courtesy of the Yankees' Jhalen Jackson, who hit a deep two-run homerun to left-center field in the second inning to take the lead. Jackson would tack on another RBI with a double in the sixth inning to tie the game up at three. That double put Jackson in scoring position for the following batter, Drew Bridges, who hit a single to score the go-ahead run, taking a 4-3 lead. Following Bridges RBI, Zack Zehner extended the lead to 5-3.
Turbin vs. Jackson
Although it wasn't enough, Drew Turbin matched Yankees Jhalen Jackson with three RBI's. Turbin had a two-run RBI in the third inning when he hit a line drive down the third base line, scoring Ricardo Andujar from second, and Cedric Mullins from first. Turbin's third RBI came in the fifth to take a short 3-2 lead. Ricardo Andujar set the play up with a triple to deep right-center, allowing Turbin to hit a groundout that pushed him across the plate.

Drew Turbin recorded three RBI's, an RBI double scored two runs in the third, and an RBI groundout in the fifth scored another... Ricardo Andujar scored twice, his first run came from a Drew Turbin RBI double, Andujar scored again after he put himself at third base with a deep triple before scoring from another Turbin RBI... Garrett Cleavinger pitched another scoreless inning, his second is as many chances... Yi-Hsiang Lin had two innings of scoreless relief, pitching the eighth and ninth...
