Aberdeen, MD- The Staten Island Yankees scored four runs in the fourth inning in defeating the Aberdeen IronBirds 6-3 on Thursday night at Ripken Stadium. It was Aberdeen's fifth straight defeat.

IronBirds pitcher Joe Esposito came into the game with runners on first and third with one out in the fourth inning. Yankees batter Luis Nunez hits a shot to right field and brings in two runs. Justin Snyder hits a soft ground ball to right field bringing in Nunez. Yankees first baseman Taylor Holiday hits a single to right field bringing in another run giving them four more runs in the 4th inning

The IronBirds came to life in the fifth inning with back to back singles from Bubba Trammell and Tyler Henson. After advancing on a wild pitch, Trammell scored as IronBirds catcher Jordan Wolf grounded into a fielder's choice. Matt Angle singled up the middle to score Henson and make it 6-2. Wally Crancer hit a screamer to second which nearly extended the inning but Yankees second baseman Damon Sublett made a great leaping catch to end the inning.

Despite trailing 6-2, the IronBirds threatened in the ninth inning with two runners on and two outs. Pinch hitter Joe Mahoney lined a single into left field to score one run but Angle followed with a ground out to end the game.

Game Notes: Angle went 1-1 with a single, two walks and two stolen bases. Angle has successfully reached base at least once in 9 of the teams 10 games so far this season. He also leads the team in stolen bases with 5.
