IronBirds Fall 5-4 in Battle with Renegades

Fishkill, NY - Friday night was one of the most back and forth game the IronBirds have played all season, ultimately falling to the Hudson Valley Renegades 5-4 with the game tying run on third in the 9th.

BIG MOMENTS

Clay Fisher and Irving Ortega both scored in the top of the first inning. Fisher singled, Ortega tripled and an Ian Evans sacrifice fly made it 2-0.

In the second, Andrew Fregia roped an RBI double to left to score Ferguson who walked and made it 3-0.

Hudson Valley scored their runs in the second and third to tie it. Duke Kinamon walked and scored in his professional debut.

The Renegades added runs in the 6th and 8th to lead 5-3 in the 9th.

In the 9th... Jaylen Ferguson led off with a walk, moved to third on a groundout and scored on Clay Fisher's infield single. Fisher got to third thanks to an error as the ball skipped away from first base into right field. He would be stranded there to end the game.

NEWS & NOTES

Ortega has put up five hits in two nights and has only been retired twice in 8 plate appearnces.

For the second night in a row, the IronBirds scored runs in the 9th that would have tied the game, except for the final plate appearance for their opponent adding runs.

Through eight games, the 'Birds are 4-4 with two games left on the road trip.
