Iowa Wolves Drop Close Game to Austin, 134-128

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Austin Spurs held on for a 134-128 win over the Iowa Wolves on Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena.

Austin (5-10) overcame a 17-point first-quarter deficit with hot-shooting especially from three-point range in the final three quarters helping fight off Iowa (4-10) multiple times at the end of the game.

After falling behind by 13 in the fourth, the Wolves clawed all the way back to lead by one with Emmanuel Mudiay's running layup with 5:42 in the game. Mudiay finished with a season-high 31 points to go with eight rebounds and eight assists.

It would be the Wolves final lead as the Spurs slowly took the lead back first with a layup and free throws. Later, Justin Kier drained a shot-clock beating three-pointer that put Austin up six with just under one minute. Kier recorded a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists.

Trailing 36-23 after the first quarter, Austin outscored Iowa, 111-92, using a 41-point second quarter to spring the comeback. There were 25 lead changes in the game.

Newly acquired Craig Randall II poured in 28 points off the bench for the Wolves. Randall II buried seven three-pointers.

Brandon Randolph led Austin with 29 points while Marcus Zegarowski had 28. Dominic Barlow and Jordan Hall each recorded double-doubles with 24 points and 13 rebounds and 13 points and 10 rebounds, respectively.

The teams finish the back-to-back series Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. CT.
