
Iowa Wild Helps with Metro Ice Sports Facility Clean Up

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild, in conjunction with Metro Ice and Hyatt Place downtown Des Moines, announced on Thursday a community clean up of the Metro Ice Sports Facility. The team also celebrates Local Heroes Night on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. with the Milwaukee Admirals and the annual Guns N Hoses Game.
The Guns-N-Hoses Game features the Des Moines Police Department and the Des Moines Fire Department in hockey games against other police and fire departments from central Iowa. The action begins at Wells Fargo Arena at 2 p.m. when the Des Moines Fire Department plays against the North Iowa Law Enforcement. A second game pits Des Moines Law Enforcement against the Iowa City Fire Department follows at 3:30 p.m. After the Guns-N-Hoses games, attendees can stay for a 7 p.m. game of the Iowa Wild vs. the Milwaukee Admirals. Tickets for the Guns-N-Hoses games can be purchased at the Des Moines Police Officers Credit Union at 423 E. Court Ave or at the Des Moines City Hall Clerks offices.
Guns-N-Hoses Des Moines is a non-profit organization and some of the proceeds from the Guns-N-Hoses Game will go to help area youth purchase hockey equipment who cannot afford it otherwise. In the past, Guns-N-Hoses has raised money for the MDA, Special Olympics of Iowa, Blank Children's Hospital, Children's Cancer Connection, Make-A-Wish Iowa and Easter Seals of Iowa. Employees from the Iowa Wild front office, Hyatt Place downtown Des Moines and players from the Wild Adult Hockey League, will participate in a community clean up at the Metro Ice Sports Facility on Saturday, Oct. 11 from 9 - 11:00 a.m. With hockey season fast approaching, co-workers and community partners will help prepare Metro for the winter session. The clean up will include landscaping, painting and power washing.

Iowa begins its second season in the American Hockey League with a two-game road trip in Texas. The team plays at 7:30 p.m. in San Antonio on Friday, Oct. 10. The Wild stops in Cedar Park, TX to face the defending Calder Cup Champion Texas Stars on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. Iowa hosts Opening Weekend on Friday, Oct. 17 and Saturday, Oct 18 at 7 p.m. against the Milwaukee Admirals. The first 5,000 fans to Friday's game will receive a 2014-15 Magnetic Schedule, compliments of Hicklin Garage Doors. Fans may also enjoy a $2 Beer Night, presented by 100.3 The Bus. On Saturday, the team celebrates Local Heroes Night and the first 5,000 fans will be handed an Iowa Wild 2014-15 poster schedule.
The Iowa Wild 2014-15 season is presented by Mercy Medical Center and begins on the road Oct. 10 in San Antonio. Fans may purchase seats to the Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Milwaukee Admirals at Wells Fargo Arena. Season tickets to see the Wild play at Wells Fargo Arena start at just $9 per game.
