October 7, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Iowa Wild News Release
Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Wild announced on Monday the team has partnered with the ALS ̩̉ Association Iowa Chapter for Opening Weekend on Oct. 12 and 13.
In conjunction with the Iowa Chapter of the ALS ̩̉ Association, the Wild will partner in numerous ways for its Opening Weekend. As part of the festivities and the Iowa Chapter's 10 th anniversary, fans may participate in "The Walk to Defeat ALS ̩̉ Des Moines." To help with this event, the Wild have committed as an MVP Partner of the Walk. The Walk is on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 10:00 a.m. at Principal Park. Check-in for the two-mile trek begins at 9:00 a.m. The Walk to Defeat ALS̩̉ is an opportunity to bring hope to people living with ALS, raise money for a cure, and to come together for something people care about. The Walk to Defeat ALS̩̉ is The ALS Association's biggest annual event, which raises funds to sustain care services and support research for much of the next year.
As part of the partnership, the Iowa Wild will wear a specialty Inaugural season patch on the team's jerseys. Fans will be able to bid on the game-worn jerseys via a silent auction on the concourse over Opening Weekend. The auction will conclude at the end of the second intermission of the game on Sunday, Oct. 13. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Iowa Chapter of the ALS Association.
