Bulldogs' 18th AHL Season Opens Friday Night

This week, the Hamilton Bulldogs open their 18th American Hockey League season with back-to-back home games on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, October 11th, Hamilton will open the season against the St. John's IceCaps (AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets) at 7:30 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. The hockey club will be hosting a home opener street party before the game, beginning at 5:00 p.m., two and a half hours prior to puck drop. To facilitate the pre-game street party, Bay Street will be closed from Market Street to York Boulevard. Admission to the party will be free and there will be food provided by Maple Lodge Farms. There will be family-friendly games, entertainment, sponsor vendors and a beer garden serving Molson products. Y108 will also be hosting its Drive Show live from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On Saturday, October 12th, the Bulldogs will host the defending Calder Cup Champions, the Grand Rapids Griffins (AHL affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings), at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum.

Hamilton Bulldogs rookie forward Sven Andrighetto scored the only goal of the game at 3:57 of the second period to lift the 'Dogs to a 1-0 pre-season win over new division rivals, the Utica Comets, Thursday evening at J.L. Grightmire Market Street Arena in Dundas, Ontario. Robert Mayer and Dustin Tokarski combined to make 28 saves for the shutout.
