Iowa Energy Win on Game-Winning Three-Point Shot

Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Iowa Energy (5-3) beat the Sioux Falls Skyforce (3-6) 104-103 on a game-winning three-point shot by Damien Wilkins with five seconds left Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon.

Damien Wilkins led the charge for the Energy with 25 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Memphis Grizzlies assignee Jordan Adams added 23 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Sioux Falls was lead by Andre Dawkins with 25 points, 1 rebound and 4 assists.

The Skyforce jumped out to a hot start with nine first quarter points from Andre Dawkins. Sioux Falls led by as many as nine points in the quarter before the Energy were able to close the gap down to three. The Energy trailed 32-27 after the first quarter.

The Energy were able to close the gap during a strong second quarter outscoring the Skyforce 26-22. Iowa would eventually take the lead for the first time thanks to a strong second quarter by Wilkins and Adams. Sioux Falls and Iowa would go on to exchange the lead five times before the Skyforce took a one-point advantage into halftime leading 54-53.

Both teams would continue to battle it out during a close third quarter with Iowa taking the lead 75-72. Iowa began to pull away during the fourth quarter, but Sioux Falls would fight back and tie the game with under a minute left. The Energy inbounded the ball with :11.9 left and Wilkins would hit the game-winning three with :05 remaining. Sioux Falls had time for one more shot, but the Energy defense held strong.

The Energy return home to play the Sioux Falls Skyforce again Saturday night at Wells Fargo Arena. It is $2 beer night, 70's night and a holiday ornament giveaway.
