WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (5-6) fell hard to the Bakersfield Jam (7-5) at the Westchester County Center tonight, losing the game 110-84.
It looked as though the momentum from last night's big win would carry over to tonight, with Westchester holding on to the lead through the first quarter, much in part to a few big drives from Knicks forward Thanasis Antetokounmpo. Bakersfield would change that momentum in the second, starting off with an 8-0 run and taking the lead from the Knicks by as much as 15 with 2:59 left in the first half. Westchester went into the half trailing the Jam 57-43.
The Knicks tried to rally in the third but ended up beating themselves, giving Bakersfield 16 points over 13 turnovers in the quarter. Bakersfield stretched it to a 20 point lead with just under five minutes to go in the fourth and added insult to injury besting the Knicks by 26 points in the final score to win the game.
Darnell Jackson and Ben Strong led scoring for the Knicks, each with 16 points on the night. Thanasis Antetokounmpo logged a double double for Westchester with 13 points and 13 rebounds, earning him player of the game recognition. Langston Galloway added 14 points and eight rebounds while Orlando Sanchez had 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks.
Forward Elijah Millsap had a monster night for the Jam, leading all scorers with 26 points, adding 11 rebounds and four assists. Center Earl Barron also recorded a double double for Bakersfield, ending the night with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Westchester Knicks hit the road for a three game home stand, first traveling to Canton, Ohio to take on the Canton Charge, the NBA Development League Affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, on Wednesday, Dec. 17 for a 7:00 p.m. match-up.
