
D-Fenders Cruise Past Stampede

EL SEGUNDO - The Los Angeles D-Fenders topped the Idaho Stampede 134-123 tonight in El Segundo.
Manny Harris scored a game-high 30 points, handed out six assists and grabbed three rebounds for the D-Fenders (3-10). Jabari Brown followed suit with 27 points, four rebounds and three assists. Vander Blue tallied a season-high with 23 points, while Roscoe Smith recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Keith Appling scored 13 points, while Ater Majok finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and six blocks in his debut.
The Stampede (3-7) was led by Kevin Murphy (26 points, six assists, five rebounds) and Shane Gibson (24 points, three rebounds). Jerrelle Benimon (18 points, 13 rebounds), Joel Wright (15 points, five rebounds), Lewis Jackson (12 points, 14 rebounds) and Tyrrell Tate (11 points, four rebounds) all finished in double-figures for Idaho.
Idaho took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, but Los Angeles would go up 5-3 and not look back. Smith had six points and five rebounds, while Keith Appling added six points of his own. Gibson was hot for Idaho, netting nine points in the first quarter. The D-Fenders would take a 30-23 into the second quarter. Murphy turned it on in the second for the Stampede, with 11 points. Brown was big for Los Angeles, tallying eight points in the quarter. The D-Fenders took 61-51 lead into the break, shooting .458 on the half and turning the ball over just five times.
Idaho came out strong in the third quarter, but was outscored 31-28. Gibson hit four-of-five threes in the quarter and finished with 12 points. Harris found his stroke for the D-Fenders, tallying nine points on the quarter. The Stampede scored a staggering 44 points in the fourth quarter, but Los Angeles stayed with Idaho, scoring 42 points of their own. Harris (15 points) and Brown (12 points) led the D-Fenders and helped Los Angeles get their third win of the season, 134-123.
Los Angeles shot .500 from the field, compared to .431 for Idaho. The D-Fenders outrebounded the Stampede 53-40 and blocked a season-high 14 shots on the night. Los Angeles recorded 74 points in the paint, while Idaho finished with 52.
The D-Fenders are back in the Toyota Sports Center on Thursday, December 18th to host the Sioux Falls Skyforce at 7:00 p.m. PT.
