Iowa Barnstormers Introduce Kid Captain Program

DES MOINES - The Iowa Barnstormers are proud to announce the launch of the Kid Captain Program for the 2022 season.
A joint effort between the Iowa Barnstormers and Blank Children's Hospital, the Can Play Kid Captain Program will celebrate children who have faced significant adversity and overcome obstacles in their lives.
"We are proud to support the Kid Captain program with the Iowa Barnstormers and to feature Can Play participants," says Dr. Steve Stephenson, president and COO of Blank Children's Hospital. "What a wonderful way to highlight this amazing organization and the kids that participate in their programs, demonstrating that everyone deserves to play."
A new Kid Captain will be recognized on the field at the start of every Barnstormers home game at Wells Fargo Arena as they take on the very important task of conducting the official coin toss to kick off the game. Can Play Kid Captains will receive the VIP treatment getting a behind-the-scenes tour, a special video board introduction, and seats close to the field.
Kid Captains will be selected through Can Play, a non-profit adaptive sports and recreational program offering year-round programming for underserved youth.
"We are very excited and proud to be introducing the Can Play Kid Captain presented by Blank Children's Hospital this season," says Barnstormers General Manager Juli Pettit. "We look forward to meeting and celebrating our 2022 Kid Captains and appreciate the support of both Blank Children's Hospital and Can Play Sports to bring this program to life."
The Iowa Barnstormers kick off their home opener on Saturday, April 2 at Wells Fargo Arena where the first Can Play Kid Captain will be introduced.
