Pirates Sign RB Corey Dauphine

WORCESTER, MA - The Massachusetts Pirates, the defending champions of the Indoor Football League, have signed Corey Dauphine, a 5'11", 198 lb. running back from Tulane University. For Dauphine, it marks a triumphant return to the game of football after suffering a torn achilles which caused him to miss his final season for the Green Wave in 2020.
The road to Massachusetts was a long one for the talented back from Port Arthur, Texas. A four-star recruit from Texas Tech High School, Dauphine started his collegiate career as a Red Raider at Texas Tech. After taking a redshirt in 2015, he appeared in three games where he ran the ball twice for 25 yards and a touchdown. He then transferred to Tulane and sat out the 2017 season.
In 2018 Dauphine established himself as a quality back. Appearing in 13 games and making five starts, he ran for 785 yards on 124 carries, averaged 6.3 yards per rush and scored seven touchdowns. Three times he ran for over 100 yards in a game and set career highs with 152 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just six carries against Nicholls State.
The following year Dauphine ranked second in the nation averaging eight yards per carry. Seeing the field in 12 games, he started three times and finished the season with 72 carries for 575 yards and seven touchdowns.
The 2020 campaign was a washout as Dauphine tore his achilles. Nine months after surgery he was back on the field for his pro day at the end of March in 2021. Now almost a year later, Dauphine is ready to resume his career with the Pirates as a professional in the IFL.
