
Intimidators Sneak Past Shorebirds 6-5 in 11 Innings

Salisbury, Md. - The Kannapolis Intimidators (1-0) scored two runs in the bottom of the 11th to defeat the Delmarva Shorebirds (0-1) 6-5 at CMC-Northeast Stadium on Thursday night.
Kannapolis took an early lead in the first inning. The lead off batter, Ross Wilson, hit a solo home run to straight away center field.
After four straight innings without a run, the Shorebirds took the lead in the fifth. Connor Narron, who had three hits and two RBIs, started the inning with a single. Two batters later, Gabriel Lino doubled towards the wall in right field to put runners at second and third. Then, Wynston Sawyer hit a two-run single to left-center to give the 'Birds a 2-1 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kannapolis regained the lead on a two out two-run homer to left field by Garis Pena.
Kannapolis tacked on a run in the sixth inning to build a 4-2 lead.
In the seventh inning, Connor Narron pulled a line drive home run over the left field wall to trim the gap to 4-3. He now leads the Shorebirds with seven home runs.
The Shorebirds knotted the game in the eighth. Mikey Planeta ignited the inning with a line drive single into center field. With two outs and Planeta moved up to third base, Narron ripped a single into right field to tie the game at 4-4.
Neither starter factored into the decision. Zach Davies lasted 5.1 innings and allowed eight hits and four runs.
David Baker entered in the sixth inning and retired all 11 batters faced in 3.2 perfect innings. Baker has now retired the last 26 batters that have come to the plate against him over four relief appearances.
The Shorebirds took the lead in the top of the eleventh. Brenden Webb reached on a one out walk and later scored on a two-base throwing error by Michael Johnson.
In the bottom of the 11th, Tillman Pugh hit a lead off double. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Eric Beaulac walked Rangel Ravelo to force in the tying run. With one out and the bases loaded, Leighton Pangilinan hit a single to the warning track in left-center field to bring home Kevan Smith to give Kannapolis a 6-5 walk off win.
The Shorebirds and Intimidators play game two of the series on Friday night at 7:05pm. LHP Eduardo Rodriguez is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
