Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release

AUGUSTA, GA - The Kannapolis Intimidators went into the bottom of the ninth inning with a 3-2 lead, but an error with one down allowed two runs to score and spoil the Intimidators shot to win their second straight game. The Augusta GreenJackets won the game 4-3 on the error in the bottom of the ninth and took the series three games to two.

Garrett Johnson (4-4) came on in the ninth to face the bottom three of the order and allowed back-to-back hits to start the inning before a sacrifice bunt moved the runners to second and third. With one down, Evan Crawford hit a one-hopper to short, which went off the glove of Mike Richard and into shallow left, scoring both runs and giving the GreenJackets (10-9) the win.

The starter for the Intimidators (8-12), Andre Rienzo is denied his second straight win despite hurling six scoreless with a career-high ten strikeouts and one walk, as the GreenJackets scored two in the seventh off Taylor Thompson and two in the ninth to win the game.

Craig Clark also does not factor in the decision, he allowed a pair of two-out runs in the third inning and went six full. After Jose Vargas reached on a single, with two down, Jake Oester hit an RBI double to score Vargas and with two down, Zach Kayne hit an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead.

Tied at two in the eighth, the Intimidators scored one run on a bases loaded walk by Ryan Hamme for the potential game-winning run, the Intimidators also left the bases loaded in the ninth as well.

The Intimidators are 0-for-12 in recent games after wins and lost the series three games to two. The Intimidators will have an off day on Tuesday but will return home to Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium for a 7:05 pm first pitch on Wednesday.
