Inman Pair of Homers Lift Power to 4 1 Win
May 25, 2019 - South Atlantic League (SAL) - West Virginia Power News Release
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Ryne Inman tossed six scoreless innings while Bobby Honeyman and Ryan Ramiz each homered to lead West Virginia to a 4-1 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night at Appalachian Power Park.
Inman (5-3) was impressive from the opening frame, as he struck out two batters in the first inning despite a leadoff single. Inman and Lexington (23-25) starter Jon Heasley (4-2) traded zeros back-and-forth until the bottom of the sixth inning, as Ramiz stepped to the dish to begin the frame. On a 2-1 pitch, Ramiz blistered a 407-foot blast to right field that thrust the Power ahead 1-0.
After back-to-back walks to Jarred Kelenic and Onil Pena, Honeyman also unloaded on a Heasley fastball, depositing a two-run jack over the right-field wall on his 23rd birthday. The long ball gave West Virginia (23-25) a three-run lead which they added to in the seventh, as Kelenic stroked an RBI triple to take a commanding 4-0 lead into the eighth.
Inman finished with seven strikeouts and notched his third quality start of the season, as well as his second in a row. Benjamin Onyshko spun two scoreless frames in the seventh and eighth that held the 4-0 lead to the ninth for Bryan Pall. After retiring the first two batters in the inning, Pall ceded with back-to-back doubles to the bottom two hitters in the order before slamming the door on a 4-1 Power win.
West Virginia continues their four-game set with the Lexington Legends Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park, with first pitch set for 2:05 p.m. RHP Damon Casetta-Stubbs (2-3, 7.82 ERA) heads to the hill for the Power, while the Legends send LHP Evan Steele (0-0, 3.86 ERA) to the hill. Pregame coverage begins at 1:45 p.m. on The Jock 1300 and 1340 AM, as well as online at wvpower.com and via the TuneIn Radio App and MiLB First Pitch App.
