Amarillo Dillas News Release
The Amarillo Dillas rebounded from a rough third inning from the San Angelo Colts and were helped out with four strong innings of relief from Chris Ingoglia to give the Dillas a 7-6 win over the Colts in front of 1,942 fans at the Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.
Ingoglia (4-2) came in for relief of starter Ralph Roberts, who was ejected in the third inning along with manager Brady Bogart arguing a play at the plate. Tristan Gaines (1-3) got the loss, allowing three runs in two innings of work of relief. Amarillo closer Ramon Geronimo got his 17th save of the season as he faced only three batters in the ninth.
The Roadrunners took the lead during a crazy third inning. Ronnie Gaines and Mark Ramos led off with singles while Jason Landreth walked to load the bases. Josh Collazo grounded out to score Gaines while Alex Fernandez hit a ball to center field but was dropped by Stephen Douglas to score Fernandez and Landreth for a 3-0 lead.
The Dillas got their first runs in the fourth as Joaquin Rodriguez led off with a double, went to third on an error and scored on a Carlos Figueroa RBI groundout. Douglas singled with two outs, stole second and scored on an Alberto Cruz RBI single for a 3-2 deficit.
Collazo hit a solo homerun in the fifth to push the lead back to two, but Amarillo tied the game in the fifth. Jermel Lomack hit a one-out single while Adam De La Garza followed with a double to score Lomack. Following a Rodriguez walk and an error put runners on the corners. Julio Martinez singled to score Rodriguez for a 4-4 tie game.
The Dillas took the lead in the sixth as Cruz reached on an error to lead off and scored on a Rob Recuenco RBI double. Sam Palace flew out but sent Recuenco to third, who would later score on a wild pitch. In the seventh, Figueroa led off with a walk and scored on a two-out Cruz RBI double for 7-4 lead.
The Colts scored twice in the eighth on RBI singles from Ramos and Collazo to pull the score to only one. Jason Crosland singled to lead off the ninth against Geronimo, but Landon Camp hit into a double play while Trey Carter grounded out to end the game with the Dillas triumphant 7-6.
With the win, the Dillas improve to 42-32 while the Colts fall to 37-37.
