San Angelo Colts News Release

After the Colts won game one they looked to take the first two games of the series. Southpaw Brett Bukvich received the call to make his first start of the year. It was a good one as he went five innings, allowing seven hits, on four runs (only one earned), walking one and striking out three, but would not factor in the decision. San Angelo jumped out to an early lead, but would eventually fall in a close one losing 7-6.

The game was scoreless through the first two, but the Colts scored three in the third on a sac fly RBI by Alex Fernandez, an RBI ground out by Josh Collazo and an error and it was 3-0 Colts. The Dillas would score a pair of runs in the next three innings beginning with two in the bottom of the fourth on an RBI ground out by Carlos Figuero and an RBI single by Alberto Cruz and the lead was cut to one with the Colts up 3-2. San Angelo scored a run in the top of the fourth to make it 4-2 on a lead off homerun by Josh Collazo (14). The Dillas would answer in the bottom of the fifth as Amarillo scored two more on an RBI double by Adam De La Garza and an RBI single by Julio Martinez to tie the game at 4-4.

Amarillo took the lead in the bottom of the sixth, one they would not relinquish, getting one run on an RBI double by Rob Recuenco and another on a passed ball that would score Recuenco and the Dillas were up 6-4. The Dillas would add an important insurance run in the bottom of the seventh, which would turn out to be the difference. For the fourth straight inning Amarillo would drive in a run this time on an RBI double by Alberto Cruz, his second of the game adding to his league leading total (which stands at 73 now), to go on top 7-4. The Colts would score two in the top of the eighth on an RBI infield single by Mark Ramos and RBI single by Josh Collazo to make it 7-6, but that would be as close as they would get as the Colts lose by that same score.

On Friday the Colts and Dillas play game three of their four game set. San Angelo sends out right-hander Ezequiel Astacio (6-5, 5.27) against a righty Taylor Allen (3-2, 7.32) for Amarillo. It all begins with the Kemps pre-game show beginning at 6:50 with the first pitch set for 7:05 on 1260 KKSA.
