Inferno Leave Greenville with a 4-2 Victory

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl opened a 1-0 lead over the first place Columbia Inferno when MIKE HENDERSON scored a powerplay goal at 5:27 of the first period, but the visitor's rallied for a 4-2 victory in front of 6,722 at the BI-LO Center Saturday night.

The Columbia Inferno used 3 powerplay goals and a shorthanded goal to rally past the Grrrowl. Chris St. Croix and Corey Hessler scored powerplay goals 7:01 apart in the second period, and the goal that proved to be the game-winner was scored by Robin Carruthers while Columbia was shorthanded. Shawn Wansborough added an insurance goal at 12:31 of the third period, while JONATHAN GAUTHIER recorded Greenville's other goal in a losing effort. MICHAEL GARNETT recorded 28 saves as Greenville was outshot 32-27.

The official paid attendance figure of 6,722 was short of the world record Greenville attempted to set for the most people dancing to the song "YMCA".

The Grrrowl remain home to host the Augusta Lynx tomorrow at 3:05 PM (Newsradio 1330 & 950, WORD). Next Tuesday morning at 10:30 AM the Cincinnati Cyclones invade the BI-LO Center as part of "Education Day" with the Grrrowl.
