INF Reegie Corona Promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

(Trenton, NJ)-The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that INF Matt Cusick has been promoted to Trenton from Tampa (High-A), and INF Reegie Corona has been promoted to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A) from Trenton.

Cusick has spent the entire 2009 season with Tampa, and has a .316 BA with one home run and 17 RBI in 62 games. In 2008, he spent the majority of the season with the Lexington Legends (Low-A Affiliate of the Houston Astros) and batted .285 in 94 games. Cusick was acquired by the Yankees from the Houston Astros in exchange for RHP LaTroy Hawkins on 7/30/08. After being traded, Cusick appeared in seven games for Tampa, and batted .174 with two RBI. The San Dimas, CA native was originally selected by the Astros in the 10th round of the 2007 Draft out of the University of Southern California.

Corona has spent most of the season with the Thunder, and has batted .287 with three home runs and 26 RBI in 85 games. He also has appeared in 17 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Triple-A) and compiled a .174 BA in 17 games. In 2008, Corona spent the entire season with Trenton and batted .274 in 129 games with three home runs and 39 RBI.

Trenton and Harrisburg begin a four-game series tonight from Waterfront Park. RHP Ryan Pope (4-9, 5.45) will pitch for Trenton and he will be opposed by RHP Jeff Mandel (2-0, 2.57) for Harrisburg.
