Altoona Curve News Release

MANCHESTER, NH - Newly acquired right-hander Tim Alderson tossed six-not hit innings allowing just one base runner in his second start in a Curve uniform as Altoona rolled over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (AA - Toronto Blue Jays) by the score of 7-2 on Friday night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.

Alderson walked Brad Emaus in with two outs in the first inning and would proceed to retire the last 16 batters he would face en route to throwing 92 pitches.

Corey Hamman would relieve Alderson and promptly allow a single to break up the no-hit bid.

Offensively the Altoona Curve were paced by Jonel Pacheco who enjoyed a 3-for-4 night and smashed a solo home run, his team leading 12th of the season to lead off the top of the fourth inning. Shelby Ford would go 1-for-3, smashing a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning, his first since rejoining the Curve to put Altoona ahead, 7-0 at the time.

New Hampshire would mount a comeback attempt scoring single runs in the eighth and ninth innings, but Scott Nestor came on to record the final two outs of the inning to notch the save.

With the victory, Curve fans will save an additional dollar on Grandstand and Terrace level seats as part of the team's Road to Savings promotion for Thursday's August 13 game versus the Portland Sea Dogs at Blair County Ballpark. Currently Grandstand seats will be just $4 and Terrace level seats will cost just $6.

The Curve will look to continue to save fans more money in the middle game of the series on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. LHP Daniel Moskos (8-8, 3.81) is expected to be activated from the Disabled List prior to the game and will get the start for Altoona (46-67) while former Altoona righty Sean Smith (3-3, 2.90) slated to start for the Fisher Cats (50-62).

Fans can catch all the action on flagship station ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and Altoona Curve Radio Network affiliate stations at 6:50 p.m. beginning with the Marzoni's "In the Zone" Pregame Show.

NOTES: ** OF/1B Miles Durham had a career-high 14-game hitting streak snapped going 0-for-5, though he did have 3 RBIs for Altoona. ** SS Brian Friday was hit in the head by a Luis Perez fastball in the fourth inning and remained down for a few minutes, but he remained in the game for the inning to run the bases, but he would be replaced by Angel Gonzalez in the bottom of the fourth.
