INF Grae Kessinger transferred from Tri-City to Quad Cities

The Quad Cities River Bandits, in conjunction with the Houston Astros, have announced the following changes to their roster on Friday. Infielder Grae Kessinger has been transferred from Tri-City (Short-Season A) to Quad Cities. Pitcher Layne Henderson has been transferred from Corpus Christi (Double-A) to Quad Cities. Outfielder Ross Adolph has been transferred from Quad Cities to Fayetteville (Advanced-A). Infielder Michael Wielansky has been placed on the 7-day injured list.

OF Ross Adolph transferred from Quad Cities to Fayetteville

INF Michael Wielansky placed on the 7-day injured list

Kessinger, the Astros 2nd round selection in the 2019 draft out of Ole Miss, played in played in 12 games with Tri-City. He hit .268 with three runs batted in during his short stay in the New York-Penn League. Kessinger finished off his college career by hitting .341 with 40 RBI in the SEC this spring. He walked 34 times and struck out 27 in 229 at bats. The 21-year old is the grandson of former Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago White Sox middle infielder Don Kessinger.

Adolph was promoted after playing in 71 games for the River Bandits this season. The outfielder put together a .223 batting average with 6 home runs and 24 runs batted in. The former University of Toledo standout was acquired in the January trade that sent J.D. Davis to the New York Mets. Adolph had received the Midwest League Player of the Week honor in two of the last three weeks.

Kessinger has been assigned #9 . Henderson will resume wearing #43. The active roster remains full at the 25-player limit.
