Indians Alter Post-Game Promotional Events Due to Wildfires

August 21, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Spokane Indians News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Indians baseball is still scheduled for a 6:30 PM first pitch on Friday, August 21st and Saturday, August 22nd, however due to the devastating wildfires in our state, fireworks have been removed from the post-game festivities. Instead, the fire protection and financial resources normally devoted to a Fireworks Night will be dedicated to fighting wildfires and supporting affected communities. As a part of this effort, a donation will be made to the American Red Cross Washington Wildfire Disaster Relief Fund.

The donation is courtesy of the Spokane Indians Baseball Club, Inland Empire Toyota Dealers, Entertainment Fireworks, KAYU FOX 28, The Big 99.9 Coyote Country, 700 ESPN, Spokane's Greatest Hits Key 101, 1050 The Key and The Current.

The next two games have been renamed Wildfire Relief Community Nights. The Indians will use these events to garner support for the communities suffering from wildfires, as well as the men and women fighting to protect lives and property in our state.

"The way these fires have impacted our state in the past few days have made it clear we need to take action," said Spokane Indians Senior Vice President Otto Klein. "The resources needed to execute a Fireworks show are resources that should be utilized in all fire relief efforts taking place across our state. Our hearts go out to those suffering."

The Spokane Indians encourage all fans and sponsors to take action and donate as well. The American Red Cross relies on donations to help disaster victims, and public support is most appreciated. You can help by clicking, calling or texting:
