DeGraaf "DeAwesome" for Canadians in 6-3 Win
August 21, 2015 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Vancouver Canadians News Release
(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - After a shaky start to Thursday's pivotal series opener against Spokane, the Canadians managed six of the game's final seven runs to pull away with a 6-3 victory over the Indians to draw back to .500 (11-11) on the Northwest League second half.
Canadians RHP Josh DeGraaf would weather a pair of early Vancouver errors to allow just two runs over his five innings of work and hold the proverbial fort until the offense shook off the dust from an eight-hour bus ride into Spokane, Washington.
Vancouver would plate three runs in the 5th inning off of Indians starter LHP Joe Polumbo who left after five innings on seven hits. Spokane reliever RHP Ko Tomita would run into the Canadians bats in the 6th inning allowing three runs with CF Andrew Guillotte grabbing a pair of RBI to extend the lead to 6-2.
LHP Turner Lee would turn in another solid performance allowing a lone run over his three innings before turning the ball over to Vancouver closer RHP Andrew Case who secured his Northwest League leading 9th save of the summer with a perfect inning to make the final 6-3 Canadians in front of 4,917 disappointed fans.
Ryan Cook will get the start for the Canadians on Friday, August 21st for the second of three games at Avista Stadium in Spokane, WA. First pitch is at 6:30 pm, you can listen live at www.canadiansbaseball.com.
Notes: Ryan Metzler extends his hitting streak to 12 games... Vancouver moves to 11-11 (.500) on the second half and continues to remain within striking distance (1.5 games) of the North Division second half pennant with 15 games remaining.
