Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils rode a strong offensive performance from centerfielder Rod Boykin to a 4-3 win over the Everett AquaSox on Thursday night at Gesa Stadium.
Boykin sparked the Dust Devils (11-11 Second Half, 33-27 Overall) early. Boykin led off the bottom of the first with a double and later scored to give Tri-City an early lead. In his next at bat Boykin hit a two-run dinger to tie the game at three. He finished the night going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to go along with a double and a home run.
Right-handed starting pitcher Adrian De Horta (1-0) earned the win for Tri-City. De Horta had a rough third inning, where he would allow all three of the AquaSox (12-10 Second Half, 34-26 Overall) runs. He finished his night after five innings, allowing just the three runs on three hits. He allowed a walk and struck out one.
Dust Devils reliever Phil Maton pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fifth save of the season. Maton hasn't allowed a run in 16 1/3 innings dating back to July 19th. He hasn't allowed an earned run since July 2nd and has a 0.95 ERA for the Dust Devils this season.
AquaSox starter Jose Santiago pitched three innings and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out four. Taylor Byrd (0-1) took the loss for Everett. He allowed the go ahead run in the fourth inning, his only inning of work, on two hits.
