Norfolk Tides News Release

Three Indianapolis pitchers held Norfolk to one unearned run, helping the Indians edge the Tides 3-1 Saturday night at Harbor Park.

Indy starter Luis Munoz (2-1) scattered seven hits in 6.1 innings, walking one and striking out five. The 25-year-old right-hander combined with former Tide Juan Perez and Bret Prinz to help send Norfolk to their fourth loss in five games. Prinz worked around a hit and a walk in the 9th inning to earn his second save of the season.

Michael Ryan homered for Indianapolis, while Jose Hernandez added an RBI triple and Brad Eldred singled home a run.

Norfolk's offense was led by Tike Redman, who finished the contest 3-for-5. Redman also scored the Tides' lone run of the contest on a strange play in the bottom of the first.

Redman singled to lead off the frame, and proceeded to steal second base. On the stolen base attempt, Indians catcher David Parrish's throw sailed into center field, allowing Redman to advance towards third. Centerfielder Luis Matos attempted to retire Redman at third, but his throw ricocheted into the stands, allowing Redman to score the Tides' only run of the contest.

Jon Knott and Cesar Crespo both added two hits apiece for Norfolk.

Andy Mitchell (7-6) suffered the loss for the Tides, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work. Norfolk's bullpen of Steve Green and Francis Beltran combined for three innings of scoreless relief.

Norfolk concludes their 10-game, nine-day homestand on Sunday night with a 6:15 contest against the Indians. Garrett Olson (9-6, 2.95) is slated to take the hill for the Tides against Indianapolis right-hander Bryan Bullington (10-5, 4.03).
