TONIGHT'S GAME: Is the first of a two game series and the 11th of 12 meetings, the fifth of six here. Richmond is 6-4 vs. the Bats, 3-1 at The Diamond. The Braves are 65-73 all-time vs. Louisville. The 41st of 48 games vs. West Division clubs; the 17th of 24 at home. Richmond is 20-20 vs. the West, 9-7 at The Diamond. Game five of a six game homestand. Richmond is 2-2. The Braves lead the South Division by one and a half games over Durham.
LAST NIGHT'S GAME: The Braves beat the Indianapolis Indians 9-2 Friday at The Diamond. Barbaro Canizares had the Braves first five hit game of the season to lead a 16 hit attack as the Braves gained a split of the four game series. Richmond scored twice in the first on a two run double by Canizares. Adam Boeve homered in the second to cut the Braves lead to 2-1. Richmond tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Brent Lillibridge knocked in a run with a double and Iker Franco singled two home. The Braves opened up a 7-1 lead in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Canizares and an RBI single by Lillibridge. The Indians Luis Ordaz drilled a solo home run in the eighth. Richmond scored twice more in the home half. Lillibridge doubled a run in and Wes Timmons chased a run home with a single. Jeff Bennett earned the win. Ryan Basner pitched four innings for the save. Marty McLeary took the loss. Canizares had a Braves season high three doubles and three RBI. Lillibridge had four hits and three RBI. Boeve and Ordaz had two hits for the Indians.
ROSTER RUMBLINGS: RHP Joey Devine was promoted to Atlanta yesterday. He was 1-0 1.23 in six outings with Richmond. He struck out 10 in 7.1 innings with the R-Braves. Devine is the 13th R-Brave to be promoted to Atlanta this season. The Braves roster now stands at 21 (10 pitchers, two catchers, seven infielders, and two outfielders). The Braves have five players on the DL. LHP Jo-Jo Reyes has been optioned from Atlanta and will join the active roster upon his arrival. Richmond has made 104 roster moves this season. The Braves made 19 moves from July 28 to August 3.
