Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees in the third games of a five-game in four-day series from PNC Field (7:00 p.m.). The Herd is currently 3-5 during their season-long 11-game road trip. On the mound tonight will be RHP Jeff Harris. The Yankees will counter with RHP Steven White.
GO NORTH: All 30 of the Bisons remaining games are against IL North division teams. Buffalo's 30-20 record within the North is the best among the six teams.
HARD-LUCK HARRIS: RHP Jeff Harris is 0-2 in his last two starts despite pitching very well. He allowed just one run in seven innings on July 24 but fell to Charlotte, 2-0 (3H, 5K). Last Sunday he delivered another quality start but lost to Syracuse (6.0IP, 4H, 3R, 3ER, 5K). Harris is 2nd on the Bisons in innings pitched (110.0) and strikeouts (66).
RUN PRODUCER: Ryan Mulhern has collected an RBI in six straight games and eight of his last nine games. His 64RBI rank T6th in the IL. Mulhern is working on a nine-game hit streak (.438 -14-32) and is now 5th in the league in hitting (.311).
QUALIFIED: Ben Francisco has reached qualification to be among the IL batting leaders. Francisco's .317 average is now 3rd in the league. He's eight points behind Toledo's Timo Perez (.325), the IL's top hitter.
SMOOTH CRIMINALS: The Bisons were 5-6 stealing bases last night, including two from Jason Cooper in game one. As a team, the Herd's 97 stolen bases rank 8th in the International League. Ben Francisco leads the team with 17.
ROSTER MOVES: LHP Aaron Laffey was promoted to Cleveland today for his first Major League stint. With the open roster spot, the Bisons have activated by RHP Scott Elarton. Elarton was signed by the Indians to a minor league deal yesterday.
