
Independence's 2016 Home Opener Set for March 26

TAMPA, FL - USL today announced the complete regular-season schedule for 2016, and the Charlotte Independence will open at home on Saturday, March 26, against Louisville City FC. The season opener will be followed by a second home match on Saturday, April 2, versus Harrisburg City Islanders.
Each of the league's 29 clubs will play 15 home dates and 15 away dates. For the Independence, the 2016 home schedule offers 12 Saturday night matches, two Friday night matches and one Wednesday night match. All Independence home games will be played at Ramblewood Stadium, located at 10200 Nations Ford Rd., and currently feature kick off times of 7:00pm ET.
The USL regular season will be staged over 27 weeks, with the final day of the season set for September 25. The Independence will rematch with Louisville City FC in its season finale, playing at Slugger Field on Saturday, Sept. 24. The home finale in Charlotte will take place one week earlier, on September 17, against the defending USL Champion Rochester Rhinos.
The top eight teams from both the Eastern Conference and Western Conference will advance to the 2016 USL Playoffs, with four weeks of postseason action set to crown the league's next champion.
In conjunction with the USL schedule release, the Independence also announced its slate of preseason opponents. The club will face NC State on Feb. 27, Winthrop University on March 3, UNC Chapel Hill on March 5, Carolina RailHawks on March 12, Davidson University on March 13 and UNC Charlotte on March 19. Times and locations of preseason matches are TBD.
