Club de Foot Montreal News Release

ATLANTA, Georgia - The Montreal Impact will face Atlanta United, this Saturday at 1pm, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690), and will try to bounce back after suffering three consecutive losses.

"We need to defend well against all our opponents and against all the specific issues each and every one of them can cause us," said Impact head coach Rémi Garde. "We're going to face a team that has an important attacking potential, with fast players that play deep and that are able to transition offensively very quickly. These are tactical situations that we've already seen these past few weeks and that we sometimes managed well, sometimes not so well."

A determined team

Montreal's players were raging after last Saturday's loss at Stade Saputo against Los Angeles Football Club. Up 3-1 at the half, the visitors rallied to win it 5-3. During the week, we felt that the Impact had a need to prove that the loss was just a bump in the road.

The trip to Georgia could be the spark that the Impact squad was looking for. Since Atlanta's supporters are always present in numbers to support their team, not to mention extremely loud, Rémi Garde's men will need to stay focused for the entire game while trying to ignore the atmosphere.

"I've always enjoyed these types of challenges and playing games like this," said goalkeeper Evan Bush. "They're a good team and their fans are great. From an individual standpoint, I love the challenge and I embrace it. I try to get a lot of the new guys to embrace that challenge too, to go in without any fear of the game or the conditions."

On the Bleu-blanc-noir's end, thanks to his hat-trick against LAFC, Nacho Piatti became the 61st player in MLS to pass the 50-goal mark. He is now ranked second in Impact history for goals scored, tied with Eduardo Sebrango.

Due to the red card he received last week, Víctor Cabrera will be suspended for the game.

Atlanta United unbeaten in six

Currently sitting second in the Eastern Conference, Tata Martino's team also has the second most productive attack in MLS, having scored 17 goals in seven games. Forward Josef Martínez is the highest scorer for the Five Stripes, with six goals in seven games.

"We know it's going to be a difficult game," said midfielder Samuel Piette. "Atlanta has a good team. I looked at its line-up over the past few games and every time, they put out a very competitive team. It's a difficult environment, because the stadium is always full. We spoke amongst ourselves and we said it would be the perfect opportunity to bounce back. To come back with a point or a win would be huge."

Upcoming games

The Impact will be back at Stade Saputo on May 5, at 1pm, to host the New England Revolution (TVA Sports,98,5fm, TSN Radio 690 - TICKETS) for the first game of a very busy week; the Bleu-blanc-noir will then travel to the Windy City for a game against the Chicago Fire at Toyota Park, on Wednesday, May 9 at 8:30pm (TVA Sports, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690), before playing its third game in eight days on Saturday, May 12 at 3pm against the Philadelphia Union at home (TVA Sports, CTV, 98,5fm, TSN Radio 690 -TICKETS).
