MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact (0-3-0) heads to the city of brotherly love in hopes of finding its first win of the 2014 season this Saturday versus the Philadelphia Union (1-1-1) at 4pm EDT at PPL Park.
The game will be broadcast live on TVA Sports and TSN Radio 690. You can also get live updates using the Impact mobile app or by following @impactmontreal on twitter .
Head-to-head
This is the first of three regular season games between these teams in 2014. The Impact and Philadelphia Union faced each other three times in the regular season in 2013. In the first matchup, the Impact beat the Union 5-3 on May 25 at Stade Saputo, following a hat trick from Marco Di Vaio that earned him MLS Player of the Week honours. The teams then tied 0-0 at PPL Park on August 31. The Impact won the last matchup 1-0 on a game-winning goal by Karl W. Ouimette, on October 19 at Stade Saputo.
Midfielder Justin Mapp has four career assists against Philadelphia, while goalkeeper Troy Perkins has a record of four wins, one loss and two ties as well as three shutouts in seven career starts against Philadelphia.
Pre-game comments
Impact news
In its most recent matchup, the Impact fell to the Seattle Sounders FC 2-0 last Sunday, in its home opener at Olympic Stadium. Despite the loss, the Impact set some team records in MLS with 20 shots in the second half and 10 corners.
Forward Marco Di Vaio and midfielder Andres Romero will both be available for selection after serving three-game bans following the MSL playoff knockout game in Houston.
Collen Warner's next game will be his 50th career game in MLS with the Impact. Justin Mapp's next start will be his 50th career start with the Impact.
The Impact is three goals away from reaching 100 in MLS club history.
Defenders Adrian Lopez and Nelson Rivas, as well as midfielder Sanna Nyassi are all on the injury list.
Union news
The Philadelphia Union is currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference with four points. In its most recent matchup, the Union fell to the Columbus Crew last weekend by a 2-1 score. Midfielder Leo Fernandez scored the Union's lone marker.
The 23-year-old forward is tied for the team lead with one goal and one assist in two games played (one start), and is having a breakout start to his 2014 campaign after playing in just seven matches in 2013. Frenchman and MLS veteran Sebastien Le Toux also has a goal and an assist.
Midfielder Maurice Edu, who joined the club in the offseason as a DP, has been called by the US national team for a midweek match next Wednesday, but will be available Saturday, and will then travel Sunday.
Former Sochaux midfielder from France's Ligue 1, Vincent Nogueira, has played every minute for the Union since joining the club in January.
Adding to the Union's revamped midfield is Argentine Cristian Maidana. Acquired on January 15 from Argentinos Juniors (Primera Division) after a return from Atlante (Mexico), Maidana has started all three games in 2014, managing one assist.
Upcoming game
The Impact will return to Montreal to host the New York Red Bulls on Saturday April 5, at 4pm EDT, at Olympic Stadium.
