LA Galaxy Academy Teams Host Real So Cal

CARSON, CA "" The Galaxy Academy Under-18, Under-16, and Under-14 will host the Real So Cal Academy at StubHub Center's Field 5 on Saturday, March 29 as they wrap up U.S. Soccer Development Academy play for the month of March.

The LA Galaxy Academy teams enjoyed a big day last week as they swept Chivas USA Academy U-18, U-16, and U-14 academy teams with three big victories.

This weekend, the action starts as the Galaxy Academy U-18's (14-4-2 overall, 44 pts.) host the Real So Cal U-18's (11-4-3 overall, 36 pts.) on Saturday, March 29 at 10:00 a.m. PT. The last encounter between both U-18 sides finished with a 2-2 draw at Oak Park High School in U.S. Soccer Development Academy play with goals from Galaxy forwards Adonis Amaya and Jaime Villarreal last November. The Galaxy U-18's are coming off an exciting back-and-forth match against their cross-hall rivals that featured a hat trick from Galaxy Academy forward Jaime Villarreal that led LA to a 4-3 win over the Rojiblancos.

The action continues at 12:30 p.m. as the Galaxy Academy U-16's (14-0-6 overall, 48 pts.) host Real So Cal U-16's (3-10-5 overall, 14 pts.) at StubHub Center on Saturday. In the last meeting between the clubs, Ethan Zubak scored four goals as the LA Galaxy Academy U-16's beat Real So Cal 5-0. Last week, the undefeated Galaxy Academy U-16's crushed their Chivas USA U-16 counterparts 3-1 with goals from Rey Ortiz, Adrian Vera and Christian Onalfo, the son of Galaxy II head coach Curt Onalfo.

On the heels of their 4-0 thumping of Chivas USA last weekend, the Galaxy U-14's take on Real So Cal U-14's at 3:00 p.m. in the final game of the tripleheader. Real So Cal's lone loss this season came against the LA Galaxy last November after a late goal from forward Noa Harrison pushed the Galaxy U-14's to a 2-1 victory over the Real So Cal side at Oak Park High School.

LA GALAXY ACADEMY U-16 DEFEAT THE U.S. U-15 BOYS NATIONAL TEAM 3-1: The LA Galaxy U-16's topped the U.S. U-15 National Team 3-1 at StubHub Center on Wednesday night as LA tallied three goals in the final eight minutes to earn the victory. In the 54th minute, the U.S. U-15's opened the scoring as Lucas Del Rosario placed a shot past Galaxy goalkeeper Abraham Romero. With eight minutes left in the game, Galaxy U-16 midfielder Rey Ortiz found the equalizer as he tapped in a rebound past U.S. goalkeeper Carlos Avilez. Just two minutes later, Galaxy midfielder Andrew Perez placed the ball in the lower corner of the net for the 2-1 lead. Ortiz scored a brace three minutes later as he struck a volley that smashed into the back of the net for the final goal of the game.

WRIGHT SCORES IN U.S. U-15 VS. U-14 BOYS NATIONAL TEAM CLASH: LA Galaxy Academy forward Hanif Wright scored the game winner in the U.S. U-15 National Team 2-0 victory over the U.S. U-14's on Wednesday night at StubHub Center. The U-15's opened the scoring in the 20th minute to take the lead. In the second half, the U-15's nearly broke through when a service into the box found Wright, but the LA Galaxy Academy player's shot went over the target. Wright would not be denied on his second attempt on goal as he notched an easy tap-in that helped double the lead. While Wright tallied a goal in the win, U-15 goalkeeper and Galaxy Academy player Eric Lopez earned a shutout in the victory.

ZICO BAILEY AND TRISTAN WEBER JOIN THE LA GALAXY ACADEMY: A U.S. U-14 Boys National Team standout, Zico Bailey and Tristan Weber have joined the LA Galaxy Academy U-14 side on Monday ahead of a week-long Under-14 Boys' National Team training camp at U.S. Soccer's National Training Center in Carson, Calif. A defender, Bailey joins the Galaxy Academy from Nevada club Heat FC. Weber, a San Clemente, Calif. native, joined the Galaxy Academy from United FC. Both players will report to training with the Galaxy U-14's after the conclusion of the training camp on March 30.

U-12'S FALL IN CAL SOUTH NATIONAL CUP FINAL: After three weeks of competition in the Cal South National Cup, the LA Galaxy Academy U-12 North fell 1-0 to the Surf Boys Academy in the Cal South National Cup Final last Sunday in Rancho Capistrano. The defeat came after the Galaxy U-12 North's 1-0 victory over FC Golden State in the Cal South National Cup Semifinal a day earlier. The U-12's earned back-to-back victories in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinal phase after defeating FC Los Angeles in penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie in regulation time before winning their quarterfinal match by defeating the Total Futbol Academy 3-2.
