COLUMBUS - Misfortunes continued for the Montreal Impact, falling 2-1 to the Crew in Columbus Saturday night after Marco Di Vaio gave the bleu-blanc-noir the lead in the first half at Crew Stadium in what was another good effort.

"In the run of play, I think we had some clear looks to make it 2-0, but we couldn't capitalize," explained head coach Frank Klopas. "I think we lost the game in the midfield today. We weren't quick enough on the ball. We didn't step up on Anor and he scored two great goals."

"I'm at a loss for words," added Heath Pearce. "We have to find a way to keep going, whether its going our way or not. It feels like we've been swimming against the current since the start of the season. It's a really tough time."

The home side held most of the play early in the first half, but IMFC weathered the storm and found its footing after the first 20 minutes, finding the back of the net in the 36th.

Midfielder Justin Mapp found Di Vaio near the top of the box, where the Italian striker turned his defender inside out and placed his shot low to the far post.

However, Columbus turned the tide once again in the second half, after McInerney went wide with a good opportunity 10 minutes in.

Midfielder Bernardo Anor, setting up at the top of the box after Tony Tchani won a 50/50 ball, fired a shot that deflected past Bush to his left in the 56th minute.

Anor then put his team up for good in the 75th minute, his fourth of the season, when the Venezuelan intercepted a ball at half and dribbled to about 35 yards out before driving a bullet far side.

"It's a repeat of what has already been said in the last few weeks," said Patrice Bernier. "I'm crushed, but we have a quick turnaround now in Salt Lake and we have to get points. Our window of opportunity keeps getting smaller and smaller. We have to get results."

Goalkeeper Evan Bush made his first start in MLS this season after helping IMFC win its second straight Canadian Championship.

The Impact plays Real Salt Lake on Thursday night, at Rio Tinto Stadium, at 10 pm EDT.
