IF Dawel Lugo and RHP Bud Jeter Named 2016 California League All-Stars

VISALIA, CA- The Visalia Rawhide announce today that 3B Dawel Lugo has been named a 2016 California League Mid-Season All-Star and will head to Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, June 21st along with RHP Bud Jeter, who was added top the roster later to represent Visalia in the annual classic between the California League and the Carolina League.

Lugo, currently ranked as the 15th top prospect in the Arizona organization according to MLB.com, is hitting .292 in 54 games, going 63-for-216. The Bani, Dominican Republic native has scored 42 runs, which ranks third in the Cal League, while racking up 100 total bases, seven doubles, three triples, eight home runs and 26 RBIs. He's walked 10 times, struck out 30, swiped two bases, has an OBP of .328, a slugging of .463 and an OPS of .790.

Lugo, who was acquired by Arizona via a trade with Toronto in August of 2015, was just named the Diamondbacks Minor League Player of the Month for May. The 6'0", 190-pounder hit .340 in May, going 34-for-100 in 26 games. The righty swinger added six doubles, a triple and six home runs during the month and finished tied for the team lead with 16 RBIs. He walked eight times, struck out 11 and led the team with 26 runs.

Originally signed in July of 2011 as an International Free Agent by the Toronto Blue Jays, Lugo will be the sole Visalia representative in Lake Elsinore in late June. The 2015 Rawhide had four members selected as Mid-Season All-Stars (OF Dan Palka, RHP Zack Godley, RHP John Omahen, and RHP Nickolas Sarianides).

Visalia will also have RHP Bud Jeter as a 2016 California League All-Star and will join 3B Dawel Lugo in Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, June 21st to represent the Rawhide in the 20th annual California - Carolina League All-Star Game. Jeter was added to the roster Friday, June 17th after RHP Sam Coonrod (San Jose Giants) was promoted.

The 6'3," 205-pound right-handed relief pitcher was promoted from the Kane County Cougars on May 11th, 2015 to the Visalia Rawhide. Since then Jeter has gone 11-0 for Visalia appearing 74 times out of the bullpen and notching 11 saves in 13 attempts.

The former Presbyterian College hurler is 7-0 in 2016 with Visalia, having appeared 26 times out of the bullpen. Jeter has logged 31.1 innings on the mound for the Rawhide and is 10-for-10 in saves this season. He's allowed six runs (all earned) on 20 hits, including two home runs while walking 16 and striking out 42. He has an ERA of 1.72 and his batting average against is just .183.

Jeter, 24, was originally a 25th round draft selection by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2013 and the Colombia, SC native is in his fourth professional season.
