Rockford IceHogs News Release

Rockford, Ill.- One of the most difficult decisions that Rockford IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson has had to make during his tenure in Rockford was the club's 2007 Colonial Cup Playoff roster.

Martinson announced the roster on Monday morning and winger Erick Lizon was waived, making him eligible for the UHL's postseason waiver draft, and center Mike Doyle was placed on the physically unable to perform list.

The IceHogs active roster will include the full 21 allotted skaters and two amateur players. One of the amateurs added to the Hogs roster was center Benoit Doucet. The 5-8 centerman joins the IceHogs after netting 43g-57a-100pts with the Victoriaville Tigres of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

In his fourth season with Victoriaville, Doucet ranked eighth in the league in scoring. The Longueuil, Quebec native's 43 goals were ninth best in the "Q". The 21-year old center accumulated 119g-146a-265pts in 252 career games with Victoriaville. Doucet joins defenseman Chad Loikets, who played in one regular season game with the IceHogs this season, as the two amateurs on Rockford's postseason roster.

The IceHogs did not participate in the UHL's waiver draft on Monday afternoon. The club will open the 2007 Colonial Cup Playoffs on Friday, April 13th against the archrival Quad City Mallards at the Rockford MetroCentre at 7:30 p.m.

Playoff tickets are now on sale at the MetroCentre Box Office or by calling (815) 968-5222 and on the web at centreevents.com.
