Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced Wednesday that goaltender Mac Carruth and defenseman Nick Mattson have been recalled to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.
The 23-year-old Carruth has picked up victories in each of his last four starts for Indy, showing a 1.00 goals against average and a .966 save percentage during the streak. A seventh round draft pick of the Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft (No. 191 overall), the netminder has appeared in 16 games this season for the Fuel, posting a 9-5-0-2 record along with a 2.46 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.
Carruth has seen time in one game with the IceHogs this season in relief back on Oct. 10. In parts of three seasons in Rockford, the Jackson, Wyo. native has a 2-3-0 record in 11 games played, with a 2.92 goals against average, a .888 save percentage and one shutout.
Mattson, 24, has registered six assists and six penalty minutes in 29 contests with the Fuel in 2015-16. The rookie blueliner out of the University of North Dakota ranks second among Indy players with a +5 rating. A native of Chanhassen, Minn., Mattson logged his first multi-point game as a professional when he tallied two assists during a 4-1 Fuel win over the Quad City Mallards on Dec. 26.
The 6-1, 184-pound defenseman has skated in two games this season with the IceHogs, registering one shot on goal.
