Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Nathan Moon- who scored the game winner- and Jordan Sims provided a goal and an assist apiece and Christoffer Bengtsberg turned in a superb 34-save effort as the Evansville IceMen (12-14-2) edged the host Quad City Mallards (15-13-3) 3-2 Wednesday night .

The IceMen struck twice in one minute and one second early in the second period to take a 3-2 lead they would never relinquish. After Kyle Folmer's blast from the high slot gave the Mallards what proved to be a short-lived 2-1 advantage at 1:52 of the second, Mike Duco roofed the equalizer from the slot at 3:10. Mere moments later, Moon jammed in the tie breaker.

Bengtsberg, who was at his busiest in stopping 17 second period shots, made a series of fine saves to stonewall the Mallards the rest of the night.

The IceMen had first moved in front when Sims charged down the slot to open the scoring at 8:51 of the first period. Miles Koules tied the game by burying Olivier Archambault's centering pass with just one minute and 34 seconds left in the first.

The Mallards and IceMen meet again tomorrow night in Evansville. The Mallards return home to take on the Allen Americans Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. After that game fans can join Mallards players for a postgame party at Blackwater Jack's Saloon at Stoney Creek Inn.
