IceDogs Win Week with 5 of 6 Points Despite 4-3 OT Loss to Generals

The Niagara IceDogs continued their 2-game roadtrip to cap off the weekend. Coming off a 6-3 win against the Erie Otters last night, the IceDogs were looking to finish off the weekend strong.
The Generals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period. In the final five minutes of the period, Stephen Dhillon made an incredible breakaway save on Generals captain Studnicka to maintain the 2-0 score heading into the intermission.
On a 5 on 3 powerplay in the second period, Oliver Castleman scored his 6th of the season to get the 'Dogs on the board! Castleman beat Keyser back door after being fed by Kirill Maksimov from across the zone. Drew Hunter was credited with the secondary assist. Oshawa scores on the powerplay, but as the Generals announced their goal, Phil Tomasino scored his 3rd goal in two games! Phil battled hard in front of the net and eventually wrapped the puck around a sprawling Keyser to net his 7th of the season. Billy Constantinou and Ivan Lodnia collected the assists. The IceDogs trailed 3-2 heading into the final period.
Nearing the midway point of the third period, Captain Ben Jones put the team on his back to get the tying goal. Jones tapped in a shot from Ivan Lodnia and beat Keyser so quickly no one on the ice except he, Lodnia and the ref saw it go in! Following a lengthy review, the goal was credited and we had a tied 3-3 game! Kirill Makismov was credited with the assist. Both teams pressed to break the tie, but this game needed more than 60 minutes.
Goaltenders Stephen Dhillon and Kyle Keyser put on an absolute show in overtime, making unbelievable saves to stun the crowd. The Generals scored with just over a minute left in the overtime period to win the game.
The IceDogs are coming home with 5/6 points on the weekend!
