Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs lost 3-2 in a shootout to the Kingston Frontenacs in Kingston Saturday night.

Despite numerous scoring chances for both teams, the first two periods finished scoreless. The best chance went to the Frontancs when they caught IceDogs goaltender Brandon Hope out of his net. A great defensive play by Siebenaler to dive and knock away the pass was the only thing that prevented the Fronts from taking the lead.

Robert Polesello finally broke the deadlock at 4:45 of the third period. Brendan Perlini tied the game with his third goal in as many games since returning from injury. With an assist on the play, Carter Verhaeghe upped his point streak to six games.

Jordan Maletta took advantage of a rebound and gave the IceDogs the lead at 14:00 of the third period, before a late goal by Evan McEneny with the goalie pulled sent the game to overtime.

After the overtime session solved nothing, the Fronts and IceDogs headed to a shootout. McEneny beat Hope, who made 44 saves in the game, in the fifth round to give Kingston the 3-2 win.

The IceDogs are back in action Thursday night when they travel to Peterborough to take on the Petes.
