
Morning Skate: Bulls Host Otters

BELLEVILLE, ON - It is another Saturday night showdown between the Erie Otters and the Belleville Bulls. One week ago the Bulls defeated the Western Conference leading Otters 3-1, handing them their their second home loss this season. The Bulls will be hungry for another two points as they are coming off tough road loss at the hands of the Kingston Frontenacs on Friday night.
The Otters got back to their winning ways on Wednesday night, downing the Owen Sound Attack 4-3 in front of 2,900 fans. Erie fell behind 2-0 after the first period but flipped the script with four un answered second period goals.
Owen Sound would add another late in the thrid but it was too little too late. Forward Nick Baptiste buried two goals and was named the games first star.
Mississauga, Ontario native Dylan Strome continues to lead his club in the absence of top NHL prospect Connor McDavid. Strome has racked up 20 goals and 35 assists in 27 games played thus far. Rookie Alex DeBrincat has also had a great first half of the season chipping in with 23 goals and 19 helpers.
McDavid broke his wrist during a fight in a 4-0 win over the Mississauga Steelheads on November the 11th and remains out of the line up.
1995-born netminder Devin Williams finds himself amongst the top goaltenders in the league. He owns a 2.55 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.
Despite being first on the score sheet, the Bulls fell to the Kingston Frontenacs for the first time this season. Just over the twelve minute mark, Niki Petti buried a great centering pass from Jordan Subban to quiet the crowd at the Rogers K-Rock Centre.
The Fronts quickly tied it up to end the middle frame and added another half way through the third. Charlie Graham made 25 saves in the loss.
Dallas Stars prospect Remi Elie, who has been invited to the Canadian National Junior Team Selection Camp, leads his squad with 12 goals and 19 assists in 29 games played. Welland, Ontario native Niki Petti is not far behind with 10 goals and 9 helpers. Jordan Subban is still one of the top scoring defencemen in the OHL. He was put up 13 goals and 14 assists in 29 games played.
The Bulls will look to make it two in a row against the top team in the West. Puck drop at the Yardmen Arena is set for 7:05pm.
