The Niagara IceDogs beat the Hamilton Bulldogs with a 4-3 score in the fourth game of the K-9 Cup Challenge. Tonight's win tilts the series 3-1 in favour of the 'Dogs.
The game got off to a quick start thanks to Ivan Lodnia! After a drop pass by Kirill Maksimov, Lodnia scored the first goal of the game. The secondary assist went to Ben Jones. Soon after, Hamilton scored to even the game at 1-1. Lodnia scored his second of the game to put the 'Dogs back in the lead! His rebound marker was assisted by Maxi and Jacob Paquette. Later in the period on a powerplay, Jones scored a goal of his own from right in front of the net, assisted by Jason Robertson and Akil Thomas.
The second period remained scoreless, although a few penalties were exchanged.
The 'Dogs began the third period on a successful penalty kill. Soon after the end, Phil Tomasino got an unassisted goal after the play went under review. Hamilton scored twice to cut the 'Dogs lead to 4-3. After a hectic last minute, the 'Dogs pushed through and kept the 4-3 win.
With his assist tonight, Jason Robertson extended his point streak to 16 games and remains the league's point leader.
The IceDogs continue a six game win streak.
