St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps and their charitable arms - IceCaps Care and the Williams Family Foundation - were the recipients of the prestigious Priory Vote of Thanks award, presented by St. John Ambulance Newfoundland and Labrador Council and St. John Ambulance Canada. The official award presentation was made during Saturday night's game between the IceCaps and Toronto Marlies at Mile One Centre.
The honour, approved by the Governor General of Canada as part of St. John Ambulance's National Honours and Awards Program, was awarded to IceCaps Care and Williams Family Foundation for their $5,000 donation to St. John Ambulance Volunteers in support of the "Ready to Respond Campaign."
"IceCaps Care and the Williams Family Foundation were created to give back to the community, and to make a positive impact in people's lives," said President and CEO Danny Williams. "We are so proud to be able to assist organizations like St. John Ambulance who do such incredible and life changing work for the people they serve. It was our honour to make a contribution to this group, and for us to receive an award for that meant a great deal to our entire organization."
The money donated by the IceCaps will be used to purchase life-saving equipment and support volunteer activities throughout the province.
"St. John Ambulance is proud to recognize its partnership with the St. John's IceCaps and acknowledge the generous contribution from IceCaps Care and Williams Family Foundation," said Glenda Janes, CEO St. John Ambulance - NL Council. "The donation of $5,000 will purchase life-saving equipment such as Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) used by our volunteers as they continue to keep our community events safe for all participating citizens in Newfoundland and Labrador."
Now in their third season, the St. John's IceCaps, in conjunction with the Williams Family Foundation and IceCaps Care, have donated more than $1 million through financial and in-kind donations, impacting more than 500 organizations throughout the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.
