The Waterloo Black Hawks overcame a three goal deficit in the third period Friday, but the Indiana Ice scored twice in the final minute to eek out a 6-4 exhibition win in Sioux City at the USHL Fall Classic.
Trailing 3-0 at the start of the final period, Michael Huntebrinker converted a penalty shot at 1:47 and A.J. Michaelson brought the Hawks within one goal at 5:26. Cody Bradley extended the Ice lead again at 6:42, but 91 seconds later, Taylor Cammarata scored during a power play to make the game 4-3. At 18:17, during the closing seconds of another advantage, Jamie Hill evened the contest. However, a faceoff win after an icing call set up Robert Polesello's decisive goal at 19:02. Ryan Obuchowski added an empty-netter at the final horn.
Jacob Fallon and Dan Sherer had staked the Ice to a 2-0 lead in the first period. Sean Kuraly added another Indiana score in the second.
The Black Hawks conclude the regular season with their final appearance during the Fall Classic Saturday versus Team USA at 11AM. The regular season starts next Friday in Omaha against the Lancers.
