Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release
DUBUQUE, Iowa - The excitement of Opening Night will be captured live on KCRG 9.2., the Fighting Saints announced Thursday. KCRG 9.2 will televise the Fighting Saints home opener, Saturday, October 1 versus Green Bay, live on and on tape-delay. In addition, the game will be streamed live worldwide at KCRG.com.
Dubuque will take on the Green Bay Gamblers, the team the Saints vanquished in the Clark Cup Final this past May. In addition to the rematch with the Gamblers, the Fighting Saints will celebrate their championship with a ring ceremony for players from the 2010-11 team and a banner-raising ceremony to commemorate last year's triumph. Coverage will begin at 7 p.m., with pre-game festivities broadcast live, and the game to follow. The Fighting Saints' Opening Night is presented by American Trust.
Dubuque Fighting Saints President Dan Lehv is confident that the continuing relationship with KCRG 9.2 will allow the Fighting Saints to give a wider audience a look into the experience of a Fighting Saints game.
"Our partnership with KCRG allows us to showcase the experience of a Fighting Saints game to homes throughout Eastern Iowa," said Lehv. "As a team entering its second season, our fan base continues to grow. The broadcast will introduce new households to the talent we have on the ice and will provide a glimpse into the fun of coming to a Fighting Saints game."
KCRG 9.2 first broadcast Fighting Saints games during the Clark Cup Final; Games 3 and 4 were carried both live and on tape-delay the following day. Once again, Fighting Saints radio voices Patrick Murray and Don Keck will provide play-by-play and color commentary.
KCRG 9.2 is Eastern Iowa's source for live and local events. A 40-foot production truck allows KCRG 9.2 to produce a high-quality broadcast from almost any location. KCRG 9.2 has covered primarily high school sports and community events since their acquisition of the production truck earlier this year, and they have entered into coverage of the USHL with the Fighting Saints.
Shannon Booth, Director of KCRG Products, said that last May's broadcasts were successful, and she is excited to continue the partnership with the Fighting Saints.
"We were thrilled to provide live coverage of the Clark Cup championship series in Dubuque last season," she said. "It makes sense to be back when the puck drops on opening night."
Fans in the coverage area of KCRG can tune-in to the over the air signal on channel 9.2. In the Dubuque area, KCRG 9.2 can be seen on Mediacom channel 109, and the live broadcast can be seen on KCRG.com.
