
Stampede Fall to Youngstown at Fall Classic

Sioux Falls Stampede News Release
The Sioux Falls Stampede suffered their first loss of the pre-season Friday night at the USHL Fall Classic in Sioux City, a 7-2 setback to Youngstown. Evan Moore and Todd Skirving tallied goals for the Stampede while Charlie Lindgren stopped 28 of 35 shots in goal for the Herd who are 3-1-0 in the pre-season.
The Phantoms scored three times in the first period, including a shorthanded goal, to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room.
Youngstown added two more goals 3:03 into the second period before the Herd got on the board on a goal from Evan Moore. Zach McCarver and Ryan Gaffney tallied assists on the goal. Justin Stevens scored at 17:52 for the Phantoms to give them a 6-1 lead after two periods.
In the third, the Phantoms went up 7-1 on a goal from Dylan Margonari before the Todd Skirving scored on the powerplay for Sioux Falls to make it a 7-2 game.
Youngstown outshot Sioux Falls 35-32 and went 1 for 2 on the powerplay while the Stampede went 1 for 4. The Herd close out USHL Fall Classic play and the pre-season Saturday morning at 10 AM when they face the Indiana Ice at the Tyson Events Center.
