Ice Flyers Look For Another 2 Points In Augusta

The Ice Flyers head to Augusta tonight after getting redemption on home ice against the Mississippi Surge last night with a 7-3 win. Game time is at 7:35 PM EST / 6:35 PM CST. This will be the 3rd meeting of the season between the two teams with Augusta taking a 3-2 win in Pensacola on October 29th and a 6-3 win at their place on November 25th.

Team Scope:

PENSACOLA - The Ice Flyers played last night against the Mississippi Surge coming out with a huge 7-3 victory on home ice. This was the first of 7 home games for the Ice Flyers throughout the month of December. Last night's victory now has Pensacola on a 3-game win streak at home and with a 5-6-2 record.

Steve Christie stood tall in net, improving his record to 2-1-0 with a 1.34 goals against average, and a 0.951 save percentage. Adam Ward has a 3-5-1, a 3.23 GAA, and a .882 save percentage. After a 4-point night, Jeff Topilko launched himself up the scoring leaders on the team. He now has 11 points in 12 games, second to Jordan Chong and Dan Buccella who lead the team with 12 points each. Matthew Robertson and Chong lead the team in goals with 6 and Buccella and Topilko now share the team lead in assists with 7.

Tonight's game against the 1st-placed Augusta RiverHawks will mark the end of the weekend for the Ice Flyers. They will return home next Friday, December 16th when Columbus comes to town for the first time this season.

AUGUSTA - The RiverHawks played Thursday as they hosted the Huntsville Havoc. Augusta came out on top that night with an 8-0 win and sit on top of the standings with a 13-3-1 record.

Augusta has Jon Olthuis and BJ O'Brien manning the crease. O'Brien has played in 6 games going 4-1-1 with a 2.17 GAA and a 0.923 save percentage. Olthuis has appeared in 3 games since returning to the RiverHawks and has earned a 2-1-0 record, 4.00 GAA, and a .860 SV%. Offensively, the RiverHawks will look to Chris Doyle who has posted 29 points in 17 games. Jim Gehring holds the team lead with 15 goals, while Doyle leads the team with 17 assists.

This will also be the last game of the weekend for the RiverHawks.
