Pensacola, Fla. - The Ice Flyers began their weekend on the road in Huntsville, AL. playing against the Havoc on Friday night. After being down 3-0, the Ice Flyers came back but it was not enough as they lost to Huntsville 3-2.
Huntsville took the early lead 5:31 into the game when Kyle Laughlin scored on Gerry Festa of the Ice Flyers.
The Havoc made it 2-0 4:43 into the second period on Paul D'Agostino's goal. Huntsville went up by three before the midway point as Bryant Doerrsam scored. A couple minutes later, Ron Cramer got the Ice Flyers on the board and the second would end 3-1 for Huntsville.
Pensacola kept the pressure on in the third period and was awarded a penalty shot 5:37 left in the game. Ryan Salvis deked Havoc goalie Dan McWhinney and scored to bring the Ice Flyers within one.
With their goaltender pulled for an extra attacker, Pensacola tried to complete the comeback and force overtime. But McWhinney stood tall for the Havoc and kept his team up by one as time ran out.
