RiverHawks Claim Victory over Surge

Biloxi, MS--In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Augusta RiverHawks earned the 4-2 victory over the Mississippi Surge.

Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game and Taylor McReynolds secured the win for Augusta with a goal in the third period.

The RiverHawks were led by Joe Schiller, who tallied one goal. Schiller scored 5:34 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Augusta. Matt Auffrey assisted on the tally.

Augusta's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. The RiverHawks' offense was clicking better than usual and put 33 shots on goal during the game, better than the 18.9 shots per game they average.

Augusta also got a goal from Drew Baker as well. More assists for Augusta came via Jason Price,Kyle Watson, and Alex Morton, who contributed one a piece.

Mississippi Surge kept Augusta's goalie busy throughout the game, and Robbie Moss made 34 saves on 36 shots.

Mississippi Surge was helped by Branden Kosolofsky, who finished with one goal. Kosolofsky scored 11:26 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Mark Versteeg-Lytwyn picked up the assist. Kyle VanderMale also scored for Mississippi Surge. Other players who recorded assists for Mississippi Surge were Joe Harcharik, who had one.

The RiverHawks totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Kiefer Smiley made 29 saves for Mississippi Surge on 32 shots. Mississippi Surge totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play.

The RiverHawks will be on the road until February 16. Their next contest is coming up on February 9 as the Team faces the Surge for the second night in a row. Fans can watch the road games live at Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta.
