Ice Flyers Acquire Holder and Kallechy, Release Sarno and Rose

The Ice Flyers have acquired defenseman Paul Holder and goaltender Jesse Kallechy from the Knoxville Ice Bears in exchange for cash. To make room on the roster for them, Pensacola has released defenseman Anthony Sarno and goaltender Jeff Rose to the team.

Holder is a 6', 185 lbs. native of Saint John, New Brunswick. In 24 games this season with the Ice Bears he had 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists), 32 penalty minutes, and was a -7. Holder is a second year pro but took a couple of seasons off before joining the Ice Bears having last played in 2008-2009 when he skated in 46 games with the Port Huron Icehawks, Flint Generals, and the Bloomington PrairieThunder; all of the International Hockey League.

Kallechy hails from Sherwood Park, Alberta. The 5'8", 170 lbs. goalie who catches left is a rookie who came to the Ice Bears after two seasons with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. During his 18 games with the Ice Bears he posted a 6-8-2 record along with a 3.55 goals against average and a 0.894 save percentage.

The Ice Flyers play at the Mississippi Surge tonight and the next home game is Friday February 24th when the Columbus Cottonmouths visit and it will be Ladies Night in the Hangar.
