Louisiana IceGators News Release
Southaven, Mississippi - The road trip is mercifully over. The Louisiana IceGators capped off their three-game away slate with an embarrassing 5-0 loss to the Mississippi RiverKings. The RiverKings scored four of those goals in the first period. The first two came from Deven Stillar. Mark Magnowski and Matt Whitehead added scores of their own late in the period. Darrell Stoddard scored the fifth and final goal midway through the second period. The IceGators, who are now on a three-game losing streak, were outscored 15-3 during the weekend's slate.
"It was a very rough first period," said IceGators head coach Kevin Kaminski. "We lost our edge physically and mentally. We got outworked and outmuscled on the first four goals." Kaminski also feels is team needs to dig deep to find pride and to return to their winning ways. "No one is on the same page," he says. "There's a lot of work to do on the ice, in the video room, and in the gym. Everything comes on an earned basis, and we haven't earned anything yet. Mardi Gras or not, we have lots of work to do and we're going to do it, and we'll be on the phone 24/7 for players who care and want to be here."
The IceGators return to the ice Friday night in the first of a three-game weekend schedule. They will host the Mississippi Surge in the Cajundome. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:05 PM.
